Since so many people are standing at home, the number of players playing online is quite incredible. The current Covid-19 pandemic had the unintentional side effect that people had a lot of time to play many games. It also had the 'also unintentional and unfortunate side effect to highly burden servers. Sony had to slow down the download speed on PSN, the Xbox services of Microsoft are loaded to the limits, and Xbox Live and Switch online crashed a few times. Now Valve takes its own steps to solve problems that can occur at Steam.
In a blog post, Valve explained how downloads are now planned to optimize the stress of the bandwidth. You will not distribute updates over several days, with games that have not been played for several days are not immediately updated.
