During the PS2 era GTA was able to start right. But some of us were still too young at that time to gamble the Open World Game of Rock star. Luckily there were Simpsons: Hit & Run a child-friendly alternative for us. A fan has spun the PS2 classic now a remake — and the result can be seen.

Many well-known games have been relied on in recent years in the form of a remastered or remake — Diablo 2 Resurrected, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD or the old GTA trilogy belong to the recent examples a facelift getting donated.

However, this privilege was not given to a very special game of the PS2 era: The Simpsons: Hit & Run.

Remake in a week? So it did the fan

Only one week has used the YouTuber to implement his project. However, he had to deal with some hurdles.

Already when importing the playing card, Reuben was looking for the right tool for a long time. After the files finally found their way into the Unreal Engine 5, however, he stood in front of the next problem: the miserable quality of the textures.

Most of the graphics could be automatically improved by Upscaling programs, but repubs had to improve by hand via Photoshop. Ray tracing then activated a simple checkbox, which improved the lighting of the game on a stroke.

And so the YouTuber hit the problem of problem, until the end of the finished result was: The first mission of the main game is completely playable.

Even Joe McMinn, the Lead Designer of the Original Game, reported to the YouTube comments, and congratulated Reuse for his phenomenal work:

Amazing what you have reached! There is really a taste of how a modern Remaster could look like. Impressive work!

But fans of The Simpsons: Hit & Run should not hope for a real remake. As McMinn declares in another comment, the complicated question of the right at the game is likely to hold the companies from a new edition.
