Wow: Community Council works
As a blizzard some time ago, the founding of the community councils, also known as advice of the players, announced, the skepticism on the part of the players was great. From PR mesh to fearing to build an military circle of players who talk to the developers after the mouth, there were many allegations of Blizzard. This negative principal has earned the developers honestly over the past few years. Through consistent ignoring suggestions from the forum or the fact that they communicated completely open and unpleased that they knew better than the players themselves. Keyword: You think you do, but you do not!
Meanwhile, the advice of the players already takes some time and the first signs are more positive than negative. Many of the relevant developers have now been officially presented in the forum and not only give an insight into their experiences within the game, but also in their area of responsibility at Blizzard. And of course, various Council players have already imagined.
Constructive discussions instead of flaming
Of course, there are still no tons of Threats in the Community Council Forum. But the previously about two dozen guided discussions characterize a pretty clear picture. In contrast to the normal forums in which everyone can write, in the Council of the players in many places of constructively guided discussions have arisen, in which the individual players explain their positions and talk about what impact of what decision on them and their players had. Wow, still has many fans who love the game but still want improvements. Source: Tony CSU / Blizzard insults, reductions or flawing is awarded in vain. Due to the missing small wars, which often arise in other discussion threats, the communication is much more targetable, which blizzard is likely to make work easier. Because instead of looking in hundreds of posts for constructive arguments and justified opinions, they will receive them presented in the community council in pure culture. And, due to the diversity of the forum members, see several pages and points of view.
Developer open how rare before
But not only the players are discussing openly and purposefully. The developers also show up from a long forgotten side. For instead of throwing with PR phrases and defensive comments to throw themselves, they are open how seldom insights into the development of WOW (Buy Now €14.99). So Yahoo recently explained in detail, as the path of a boss during the PTR testing process and why you do not want to announce this earlier, even though you could.
Greg Street, also known as Ghost crawler, was very active in the direct combo with the players. He now works at Riot on a new MMO. Source: Blizzard Entertainment Yahoo is not a community manager whose task is the communication with the players. He is the Lead Encounter Designer in Blizzards WoW team. That too is a big change. Instead of community managers as a stopover, the developers now communicate again with the players, which is very positively absorbed by them. For, of course, the developers know, of course, much more and better decision about many things than it could ever have a community manager. On the other hand, players may be sure that their feedback arrives and will not be lost or twisted somewhere between the different CCS and the developers.
This was exactly this direct communication with the players was at that time one of Blizzard's biggest pluses, as Greg Ghost crawler Street reinforced them, which brought him a lot of recognition and a good reputation in the community.
no Probably more
Of course, the developers will not spend their half working day to discuss with the players and there will certainly still be many things that the devs do not want to speak or allowed. But at least the time of the Probably seems to be over. Earlier, and at least I am sure, the answer to the question of the announcements of the PTR test would have failed differently if there had been one at all. Whether the developers will take into account the opinion of the players in the future in the continuation of the Story? Source: Blizzard Since we would have had to satisfy ourselves in the direction of apology, but that is unless otherwise possible due to internal processes. For my part, I'm not angry with the developers if they have to say in some places that they do not want to talk about it or should not reveal a certain procedure. If you then communicate so honestly and do not separate any PR-phrases.
A big step in the right direction
All in all, the community council is, and that already shows weeks after the implementation, a step in the right direction. Of course, this will not suddenly get gold from She, but the chance for pursuit in the future should be well reduced.
The developers receive unadulterated feedback from several areas of the game and should therefore have significantly more and better perspective in future decisions. The players on the other hand are finally taken seriously again. Because one speaks with them, ignores them consistently and thanks to the openness you feel like communicating at eye levels.
Systems such as the Azeris armor have already been criticized before the BFA release. The developers ignored this feedback but. Source: Blizzard Now this must, of course, still reflect in the upcoming contents of WOW. The first topics in this regard, such as the potential resolution of the fraction boundaries, the return to the plunder master or the future external cooldowns are already deliberately discussed. It remains to hope that the developers pull the right conclusions from the feedback. The excuse that important feedback would not get to you, at least does not move in the next extension.
Do you have read around in the community council forum or are you even in the official advice of the players? Unfortunately we were not selected. But at least we are not alone, as tooasmongold was not allowed to join.
