Epic Games: Snaps music
Epic Games takes the company Bandcamp under his wing and grabs the second music company. In a blog post, the US music platform talks about the acquisition and initially assures that it will retain its previous day-to-day business. Bandcamp is a marketplace for musicians of all genres, which is characterized by the fact that the authors receive 82% of their revenue from the sales, according to their own data. Founded in 2008, the company hopes for the opportunity to expand internationally and further expand its service through the acquisition of EPICs. The reason for this acquisition is according to Epic Games that they want to realize their vision using the platform to build a marketplace for creative minds. This marketplace should be a closed ecosystem for technology, games, art, music and much more.
"The Mission of Bandcamp is to help spread the healing power of music by building a community where artists grow through direct support of their fans," says Bandcamp CEO Ethan Diamond in a statement. "In Epic, we found a partner who truly believes in us and the future of music and art itself [...]," he continues his statement. Steve Allison, Vice President and General Store Manager at Epic Games is compromising: "Bandcamp has built a great community and business model, which enables emerging artists to be successful thanks to direct support from their fans, with one of the best income models and Terms and Conditions in the Music Industry. These [values] cover themselves with EPICS approach to supporting artists in all media areas and enabling them to get into direct exchange with their fans. "
